Web Pages as a Digital Publication
DeskTop Author is electronic publishing software that allows you to create 3-D page turning digital web books. Digital books are any type of e-publication including e-brochures, e-books, digital photo albums, digital diaries, online resumes, exams, forms, and surveys. Digital books created with DeskTop Author can be presented in a stand-alone format that can be viewed without an internet connection by using a plug-in, DNL Reader, similar to but smaller in file size than Adobe Reader. DTA e-books can also be presented as web pages with no need for HTML, ASP or other programming knowledge. When you package your DTA e-books as web pages the end user can detach them and turn them into stand-alone digital e-books by installing the DNL Reader on their computers. What is a DNL Reader? Installation of the small file sized DNL Reader will allow you to view Digital Web Books in the .DNL format. Digital Web Books can be produced by using the DeskTop Author software. DNL files are simply data files. Viewing e-books in the DNL format allows for a safe viewing experience, it also reduces the file size of the final document so that less time is spent downloading the e-book. The DNL Reader also allows for e-books created with DeskTop Author to be viewed inside a web browser.
Install DNL Reader for Viewing E-books Created with DeskTop Author now, then view the sample e-publications included below. Simply click on a page to turn. Right click on a page to view the menu of options including page turn style and speed. Simply skim a few pages of these e-books for now in order to have an introduction to the types of content, interface, and features. At this introductory point you merely need to be aware of the "look and feel" of ebooks created with DeskTop Author.
